Holiday in Majorce in summer

Majorca is famed for both its vibrant, lively party resorts and its more family friendly spots. So where are the islands top choice for the quieter more relaxing retreats? The following quieter resorts are perfect if you’re looking to enjoy the warm Mediterranean heat in peace and tranquillity:
Cala San Vincente
Cala San Vincente resort is one of the smallest of Majorca’s resorts. The resort has grown around a quaint village on the island’s north west coast roughly 60km from Palma city. Cala San Vincente is a great way to have a true experience of Majorca as the village has retained its roots in farming and fishing. Rather than noisy watersports,Cala San Vincente shares its beaches with the local fishermen who you can sometimes see fixing up their nets or preparing their boats. There are 3 rugged and beautiful beaches to rest and unwind on. You can usually find a totally isolated spot or chose a place closer to the small cafes and shops on Cala Barques beach.
Alcudia beachAlcudia
Located on the north coast of Majorca, Alcudia is far removed from the clubbing resorts found in the south. Family holidays in Alcudia is a big draw for the resort and its great location enjoys a simple transfer from Son Sant Joan International airport. The resort’s main beach is Alcudia Bay which has clean sandy shores and smooth shallow waters – a perfect resort for families and couples looking for a relaxing break. The beach does offer water sport facilities and is close to the beach side bars and cafes. Alcudia has the right balance of having all the convenient amenities close by but without the rowdiness of the large resorts on the south coast.
Colonia Sant Jordi
If the resorts above are still too busy for you (!) then try Colonia Sant Jordi. Located on the far south east coast this resort is remote, peaceful and offers an authentic Mediterranean holiday. Its roots lie, like a lot of other resorts, in fishing and agriculture. There is a small harbour still used for fishing boats and there’s a small ferry service to the National Park island of Cabrera a.k.a ‘Goat Island’. The beach of Colonia Sant Jordi is close to the marina and despite its petite size it has fantastic amenities and spectacular views.
Portal Nous Portal Nous Beach
On the south west cost of Majorca is Portal Nous. This unique resort is vastly different to the neighboring resorts of Palma and Magaluf. Travellers chose Portal Nous for seclusion and tranquility but what makes Portal Nous special is that it’s still close to the conveniences of said neighboring resorts. The resort has a variety of beaches to choose from small isolated ones to the larger ones with facilities. Portal Nous is perfect for retired couples and families with young children who need easy transfers and amenities close by but in a peaceful and safe location.
Valldemossa
The resort of Valldemossa has been built around a small village in the centre of the Sierra de Tramuntana Mountains. It’s a relaxing haven for all ages located just north west of Palma. Mainstream tour operators have yet to commercialize Valldemossa and so the people who holiday can still enjoy the cultural history of the area. This is seen in the architecture especially the Carthusian monastery. Activities here include hiking and rambling to just unwinding and enjoying the traditional cuisine and stunning scenery.
