Holidays in Egypt old pyramids

The Great Pyramid According to the Ancient Egypt history

The ancient history about Egypt pyramids has put much importance to the Great Pyramid of Khufu. It is by far one of the most famous and the biggest pyramid in the world. It is called the Great Pyramid of Giza or the Pyramid of Cheops. The pyramid is the only structure that has remained intact till now of all the pyramids in Giza and around Egypt. The Khufu pyramid was built during the fourth dynasty of Pharaohs and the ancient history about Egypt pyramids has shown lot of efforts being put into the construction of this pyramid.

The Built of the Pyramid

The Great Pyramid consists of about 2.3 million limestone blocks used during its construction. The ancient history about Egypt pyramids shows that these blocks were carried from the nearby quarries. The Taura limestone used in this pyramid was brought through the river Nile. The inside is made up of fine quality granite. 25 to 80 tonnes of granite stones were even found in the Kings chamber inside the pyramid.  The outer surface of the pyramid is purely of white stones. According to the ancient history about Egypt pyramids an earthquake during the 1300 AD loosened the outer casing stones which were carted away by people to build fortresses and mosques near Cairo.

The Interior

The interior is somewhat interesting as it is located some 17 m above the ground and takes to a descending passage as one enter the pyramid. Pits can be found while moving across the passages which according to the ancient history about Egypt pyramids show the construction of wells or places for hidden objects. Many ascending and descending passages are found inside the pyramid. The main area is the Grand Gallery which leads to the Queen’s chamber as well as the King’s chamber. The pits can also be found through this way and many have been dug deep by treasure hunters in pursuit of finding treasures inside the pyramid.
Each of the chambers also consists of shafts sloping upwards connecting to the outer surface of the pyramid. According to archeologists these shafts were meant to provide ventilation of air and light for the chamber. Some shafts lead to other chambers which were discovered in the 1800s. The purpose of these shafts is still unclear since many also suggest that these were aligned with the stars for ritualistic purpose for the King. The king’s chamber is purely made of granite and has only one rectangular granite stone.
The ancient history about Egypt pyramids has shown lots of stories to be related to the Great Pyramid. There are still archeologists coming to the pyramid for exploring it further. The belongings kept inside the pyramid were robbed by looters during that time that is why not much could be revealed about the life of the Pharaoh. However scriptures and paintings on the wall did help the explorers to derive theories that the Egyptians practiced for their kings.
